well i know the system requirements are listed on the website but i dont know what they mean. ive done a bit of reading trying to understand all this but im still lost i dont know the difrence between AMD and intel or the difrence from ati or nivida these are the parts i dont understand AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or better are all duo cores the same im lost on this.
im also lost on this one part of the system reqs make it sound like intergraded grafix will work. (Note: PCs using a built-in graphical chipset are recommended to have 2GB of RAM.) but then it says this Star Wars: The Old Republic requires a video card that has a minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM as well as support for Shader 3.0 or better. Examples include:
ATI X1800 or better
nVidia 7800 or better
Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better
its my understanding that intergraded grafix has no support for shader 2.0 much less shader 3.0 am i wrong on this or does this mean that a intergraded chip set would not be able to run this?
Unless you're running Windows XP, you're almost guaranteed to be able to play the game, at least on the lowest graphics. They used a branch of a very simple graphics engine (heavily modified of course, but still the same graphic engine) to create the game. Safe to say, (and the dev's have actually said this somewhere): If you can run WoW, you can run SWTOR.
But always, if you're in the market for a sick PC, the last one I bought was an iBuyPower from Tigerdirect.com about 3 or 4 years ago, and it still runs insanely great. So I'd highly recommend a comp from Tigerdirect tbh, mine only cost like 400 bucks or so when I bought it.
I just looked on their site, and if I were to buy another one, I'd get this one:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1157297&CatId=114It looks to be the best bang for your buck, if you're willing to spend an extra $120 or so, definitely worth it and it'll last you quite a long time
