...I dont think you understand the concept of "next gen"
The art style or direction has nothing to do with an MMO being next get (unless we saw a hyper realistic mmo, which we wont).
TERA can be considered a 'next gen' mmo because of its features such as manual targetting of spells and spells interacting with targets in certain ways depending on where exactly it hits the target. In other words, lots of hit boxes all over the target.
It wont be as grindy as the eastern version (im sure they will tune that for the western market) but it'll still have an eastern overall style/influence (which again, doesnt affect standing as a 'next gen' title)
GW2 doesnt really have THAT many next gen mmo features that are completely original. The idea of dynamic quests and so forth isnt new. The way they have done underwater combat and such however, certainly is.
Either way I'm VERY excited for gw2, not so much for tera because of its eastern style, but its a very interesting game because of its features.
If i remember correctly, TERA doesnt have a traditional holy trinity either.
You can sign up for the NA TERA beta now, just a heads up.
EU too I think.

To sit here and say SWTOR isn't in trouble in the future is just ignoring the obvious. The game had great sales, it was released with Christmas, this is to be expected. However a decent number of people have quit the game already. There is simply nothing to do at 50. This game has some of the worst, least-skill based PvP I have ever seen in any MMO. Operations are laughably easy, including Nightmare mode, regardless of it being a first tier it's just a terrible start. The game actually has LESS features and looks WORSE live than it did in beta, that is 100% fact. Besides the voice acting, which 99.99999999% of the people spacebar through, the questing is EXACTLY the same. I don't need to listen to 5 minutes of voice acting for some guy to tell me to kill 30 droids. The game masks the bland questing and grind with the dialogue, stop pretending it's not there, or that the questing is new and innovative. This game has more loading screens than Everquest. Fly to a new planet, loading screen. Why the fuck am I on an Orbital Station now? Take an Elevator, loading screen. Take another ship, loading screen. Planet, elevator, loading screen. It's ridiculous. They're even 'real' loading screens half the time, it just fades to black for 5 seconds. Stupid and pointless.
The light/dark choices made for an interesting concept, but it really doesn't affect you whatsoever which side you decide to pick aside from your titles and possibly 1 or 2 different pieces of vendor gear. The mounts are exactly the same just different colors, everything is mirrored between light/dark and even republic/empire aside from story, there is no variety. Not to mention everyone looks the same at 50, more so than you did in WoW. And it's not even good looking gear, some of the worst looking gear I have ever seen.
I'll be generous and give the game a 7. It has a great IP, but as of right now, that's the only thing it has going for it besides it having the 'fresh' factor. Even though it isn't really fresh.
Bioware truly dropped the ball and this game wasn't nearly as creative or fun as it could have been.
edit: Forgot to mention that hardmode dungeons are stupidly easy as well, I find very little challenge in the game, aside from the challenge of overcoming the unresponsiveness of abilities and actions, especially as a Sniper. The crafting system has its up and downs, its ups as in you can just send companions out to do shit, and its downs as in you can send your companions out for TWO HOURS and they come back with nothing.
