Woohoo, I can't wait! :D  Still 3 months away, but at least it wasn't pushed back to next year.  Plus there won't be hundreds of posts whining about the game never coming out on the forum :P

I'm curious as to how early the people who pre-ordered will get in though.  I'd say between 1-2 weeks.  10 days is my guess due to the extra $5 we paid for preordering, which is 1/3 of the monthly cost (and thus, 1/3 of the days).

30 days ;) . If you preorder it you will gain the ability to receive a digital copy 30 days before the release to the general public.

looks like an epic game, although i havent looked in to it much...

what other games does it compare to?

does it use loads of items like diablo, or skillsets like guildwars or even something totally different like coh?

WoW and the Knights of the Old Republic games are the comparison models. First and foremost it will be story driven. The idea is to create an MMORPG that draws you in, one where you are able to enjoy a story and follow quests solo. Beyond that there are quests that require 5+ people to complete along with various raids in the WoW fashion. These quests and raids will follow a story arc that adds to the game. Each character has 3 skill trees that will changed depending on the Advanced Class they choose at lvl 10. There will be gear and the ability to craft weapons and armor. Also, there are different PvP arenas that go from a TDM to CTF and Sabatoge.

They are also implementing some sort of allies/adversaries type of system for the guilds. I am not 100% sure how that will function in-game. All in all this game proves to set a new standard for future MMO's

Release date announced. December 20 of 2011!

December 22 for Europe.

But there's early game access as well for those who have pre-ordered, my guess is that it's around 3 days before the actual launch.

Yes, you are correct for the Europe release. As far as the pre-order release....that is 30 days prior to normal release ;)

I doubt that mate. You do get 30 days played time together with the pre-order but you don't get early access 30 days before launch. They haven't officially announced anything yet other than "it will be multiple days" when asked whether it was just one day or several.

"We don’t have any new information regarding Early Game Access to share at this time. We know everyone is very excited about the release date announcement (we are, too!) and that you can’t wait to get in the game! The beginning of Early Game Access will depend on a number of factors, including results from our Game Testing Program and Pre-Orders, but there will be multiple days of access. Please make sure you’ve read the Pre-Order FAQ to stay up-to-date on Early Game Access information!"

Ya know, after I posted that I figured I would get some facts for you guys from the source and I searched around. I know I read somewhere about the access but since I can not find it again, the only option I can see is that I may have confused it with the 30 day access.

Anyone who will try to play it like old MMOs are going to be extremely surprised. It's a Bioware game first and formost, so it's story and character oriented even if it's a MMO.It's not grinding, leveling or PvP orienteted. They've said it's entirely to play it like you would a single player game.

Wrong. It will be both leveling, PvP and raid orientated. The leveling however will have much more focus on leveling and immersion to the game. If you think this will be like a single player game or anywhere close to that apart from the story, then you don't know anything about the game.

It'll be very similar to WoW but in a new world and a lot more focus to story.

Thought I'd put this link from youtube in here. If you want to convince some of you friends to play this game, perhaps this will help.
