Hey guys I wanted to do another playthrough of skyrim and I saw that coincidentally the anniversary edition is releasing in a couple days

Just have a few questions:

1. I saw that the anniversary edition will upgrade the special edition if you have that(which i do), if i start a new character will it erase the character or make it so that i would have to start over to play the new edition?

also I'm unfamiliar with the creation club, does this cost money to use?

1. Upgrading to the anniversary edition won't touch your character save files, but it will break your mods. In fact, it will break your mods even if you don't upgrade, as they're patching in fishing for everyone.

2. Yes, the creation club content costs money, but most of the content can be acquired via mods once the mods work again.

If you don't want your mods broken, you can disable updates via Steam, but you will also no longer get the free additional content. The mods will eventually be updated, at least most of them, to work with the anniversary edition.
