I have a dual wield, medium armor, battle mage and it is ridiculously powerful.

The best character is the one you enjoy playing.

I run a high elf pure mage and I have no problems with anything.
I've seen some bad ass dual wield mages though.

Poison Arrow / Volley / Burning Talons / Fiery Breath / Igneous Weapons

Sword and Board - Single Target
Pierce Armor / Unstable Flame / Stone Giant / Obsidian Shield / Defensive Posture
