I'm on the Golden Claw quest on Skyrim. I've cut down Arvel, but I've let him escape. I didn't realise you needed to kill him to obtain the Golden Claw. Now I can't find him. Does anyone know where he will be?

he will run straight forward (on the area that the spider web blocked) and most likely gets killed by either the trap or the zombie dudes (cant remember their name)

This quest gave me the same problem, and ontop of that I didn't know you could look at the claw for the combination so I wasted so much time out of stupidity :P Glad you found him tho, Have fun pillaging!
