Don't really get the gold thing at all. After a certain point, gold will be amassed by the thousands so easily that it'll be worth nothing at the end. I assume that's what you meant by the game's "real currency".

It works on tons of games. Even if you can get 1 million pretty easily.

So ppl will be selling good items for hundreds of millions of gold at some point? Jus doesn't really make sense. I understand gold being valuable at the beginning stages when we're leveling our blacksmiths-jewelers and upgrading our stashes but after that...eh, just my "imo" ofc, we'll see how it all works out eventually anyways.

It works on many many MMO games, I don't see why it wouldn't on a dungeon crawler. One of D2s worst aspects was the fact that gold was so worthless imo. Trading item for item is just hit and miss really. It usually doesn't seem like it's an even trade, AND if you already have tons of great items then your perspective on value becomes even more skewed, and makes trading that much more difficult. Gold is the way to go.

Using the AH makes people respect the games actual currency, even if there is inflation it will still work. I've been playing Aion recently, and at high levels you get items that sell for over 1 million Kinah(the games gold). Stuff sells for multi millions, but it works.

Gold should remain as a viable currency for quite awhile. The problem with d2 was gold had no use outside of gambling. There were no real outlets to spend gold for something worthwhile and meaningful. D3 has a lot of outlets with crafting and AH being the most obvious. Inflation is inevitable but it's going to be much slower to start IMO.

True enough but at the same time I heard that if you opt for real money, there's a fee that blizzard will take out of your sales. I'd think that would make some ppl stick with in-game gold since they'll use the gold to buy other items anyways. But in cases of finding a super rare godly item that's worth hundreds of dollars then yea, I'd definitely sell that for cash and tuck that away in my bank acct lol.

I do think that's a dumb idea though. It's like they are encouraging RMTs(real money traders) lol. If they do make a small fee off of it though, I guess they are using it to their advantage to make a money off of RMTs.

But yeah, this is just going to encourage botters and the Chinese lol.

It's Blizzard seeing a business opportunity and taking advantage of it. People will sell items for real money, so why not control the environment and make some money on it? It seems dumb to let a third-party source make money off of their game when they can implement a system (RMAH) to control the transactions. It doesn't mean third-party sellers will be non-existent, but those sites might not be as profitable, especially if Blizzard is able to fend of the dupers (which I think they will this time, seeing as they are planning on the RMAH to bring in revenue).

That's the only reason I would want to allow Blizzard profit from this game, so they can give a fuck and keep botting to a minimum for the rest of us.

The real money might encourage the botters but it won't be anywhere near as bad as D2 so that's already better.
