For some reason, Bethesda decided to make cliche, shitty stories for both Oblivion and Skyrim. What's with that? (If you haven't played Morrowind all the way through, you REALLY don't understand how bad Oblivion and Skyrim suck nutsack story wise, so don't type any words of protest if this is the case.)
See, here's what happened. Bethesda didn't want to pay the gentlemen who wrote the majority of Morrowind's story because they were so awesome, so they hired a couple of 12 year old Korean Ragnarok fans who didn't speak English. They stuffed them in wooden boxes and gave them a Doctor Seus book in hopes that they'd learn English. This is why Oblivion and Skyrim's story suck. Thanks.
What a theory.
It is the EXACT same team who worked on Skyrim, Oblivion AND Morrowind. They may just have lost their creativity a little bit, when writing the stories. There are also a lot of other factors, especially immersion. I personally think that Morrowind is very immersive, but not in the seems-like-real-life kind of way.
Well, I don't really care. The modder's does the work anyway.
