For the alchemy/enchanting/smithing abuse, I'm not sure if this is what he's speaking of but relatively certain.
You can train alchemy enchanting and smithing high up.
Use enchanting to make yourself a set of alchemy enhancing gear,
Then make an enchanting potion and a smithing potion.
Use the enchanting potion to enchant a set of smithing gear, then with gear & potion on, craft yourself high end weapon & armor at a low level.
This enables you to hit huge amounts of damage and take very little damage.
As for my tip:
I played oblivion and found that archers were most fun, plus at the end of the game get really strong.
If you start an archer wear light armor as it makes sneaking easier. And don't chose bosmer(wood elf) for the sake of the range bonus. The resistances from other classes are much nicer and 5 levels isn't much that low.
in game like skyrim, which was too damn easy, you can pick practically any calss you want, so IMO go for the style and not for the best. if you ask, go for wood elf if you pick assassin/archer/what ever (which will get boring pretty quick when you 1 hit kill everyone in master)
