damn... i thought HON died shortly after dota 2 cameout honestly... lmao when i say dead i mean it lost all traction/media coverage... the proof is that as a moba fan i havent heard of HoN since like 2013 or something...

im not even trying to trashtalk the game, im just hoping they'll do better than the first release. i remember i played it SUPER EARLY and there was huge problems with it, wich is why i switched to league then dota 2 (iirc hon cameout before league even)

/edit

i just googled it, i was right. i played Hon in 2009 BEFORE league cameout, in the 'beta' of HON like super early beta i guess so maybe thats why i have bad memories of it being buggy and all... i never played the game post 'official release'

Lol its no problem, I dont remember any bugs to be honest, I came into hon beta after playing Dota 1 for about 3 years in high school. In Dota 1 there was no reconnect, there was no matchmaking, there was no leaver prevention/protection, no maphack protection, no reliable latency/regions, no customizable hotkeys, (every hero had hotkeys like K N F Z etc...) we had literally nothing but a fun custom map and a few sketchy 3rd party apps for banlisting known shitheads and a battle.net channel with a bot for inhouse games. Hon after that??? It was kinda fuckin flawless from the get go. Everything was improved, it was innovative, and it wasnt just a dota alllstars clone, it brough new things to the table. It was one of the first games to foster a community and poll its users for insight as to what kind of content they wanted to see, changes they wanted to happen. The devs recognized the people who spent countless hours in the game as valuable tools to improve the game and created a beta team to capitalize on that and benefit everyone. It was everything we wished Dota 1 was.., They worked hard to curate a game and a competitive esports scene during a time where the only esports we really had was a handful of private counterstrike (CAL) and starcraft tournaments for no real prizes. Breaky and Beef and Im sure a few others behind the scenes, were way ahead of their time with the vision they had, and HoN was all the better for it. League of Legends was fine, it was a good game, it took a chance on F2P and won, and I mean no offense when I say this but comparatively it was the fisher price MOBA with training wheels. I'm happy it existed, it got more people into the genre, but it was no where near the experience of HoN for me personally. I have to apologize, theres no doubt I am very defensive over HoN, and it shows... I think its because looking back on everything as a whole, I view it as one of those moments in life where you learn a lesson that opens your eyes for the worse... I realized optics mattered more than substance, Taylor swift will make billions and no one will know about Protest the Hero. Which will always make me disappointed in humanity. I poured my heart and soul into that game only to witness it fall into obscurity through no fault of its own, and that maybe hits a bit too close to home sometimes. But fuck it, no matter what comes of this reborn variant, Im just happy its getting this second chance, and Im gonna enjoy it, no matter how short lived. If any game deserves another shot, its this one.

yeah well... that feeling you had about the game disapearing when you put so much time into it, i had that same feeling about 'battlerite' u can google it up it was a fun competitive game on steam and it also died so i guess i know what you mean....

but lets face it, dota 2 was great back in the days, and nowadays league of legends is great imo (i personally quit playing dota2 when 90% of my north american lobbies became JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA LIMA PERU LA PUTA or whatever those fuckers spam while going 0-14 od offlane or whatever

i guess south americans killed NA dota2 for ALOT of us people, if you want english speaking teamates you have to play league now...

if HON has regionlock on the new release i may try it, if not it might become peruland number2 (unless the system requirements to run the games are high, most of those lima guys cant afford PCs and play in internet cafees rofl

and its not like i was in shitlow elo to have all those peruvians in my lobbies , i was around 4500-4800mmr

I have over 20k hours in Dota 2 alone (probably just as many in Dota 1). Still think HoN was the better game in many ways; hero design was super innovative (it had vector targetting literally a decade before Dota). Hoping this remake is at least decent.
