Ssf Trapper Weapon Question - Topic

Hello guys,

I am running through a SSF Trapper playthrough in hardcore Players 8.

I know that all guides point towards using hoto (or a lot of them at least) as an end game build which is feasible in SSF. But I always assumed that it was to reach a good FCR breakpoint to teleport.
But, the game was kind enough to drop a Ist rune in Dark Wood and a Vex rune in Spider Forest.

Should I build Hoto and keep the Ist rune or... build Silence into a crystal sword?

I know Silence isn't the META, but for a SSF, I think it could help me a lot. I don't have Enigma right now and don't plan farming it Lower Kurast because it just takes way too much of my time.

So, I do not need Hoto FCR and Mindblast is already casting quickly enough for PvM.

Silence has +2 skills instead of +3, but 75% all resists, 20%, ias to lay traps quicker, 20% FHR, 30% mf... looks like a great weapon to reach the end of the game.
Maybe I would even do it into a phase blade if Stormshield would drop because I wouldn't care about the 136 dexterity required as I could reach max block and phase blade has a much better weapon speed.

What do you guys think?
Seeking for hints and other people's opinion right there.

if you decide silence go PB for faster weapon speed

Hello,

I didn't play much in the last weeks. But, I still have this question.

I used maxroll website and determined the following setups:

1) Silence phase blade + Burst of speed = 9 Frame trap laying speed + Sanctuary troll nest for resists.
Due to high dexterity requirement on phase blade, I lose about 200 hp compared to crystal sword.

2) Silence crystal sword + Burst of speed + 10% ias gloves = 9 Frame trap laying speed + Sanctuary troll nest for resists.
Better than setup #1 in my opinion but requires 10% ias gloves.

3) Hoto + Sanctuary troll nest + Burst of speed + 20 ias gloves = 9 Frame trap laying speed + Sanctuary troll nest for resists.
More damage than setup #2, but I lose +35 all resists and 20 ias gloves (with good mods) are harder to craft...

4) Hoto + Spirit + Burst of speed+ 20 ias gloves = 9 Frame trap laying speed.
Same downsides as setup #3, but with lower life due to high strength requirement of the monarch.
I repeat, I do not have Enigma and I don't think I will ever have it, so I basically don't need FCR for teleport and strength for spirit costs so fucking much life. And if I do build an Enigma one day... I guess I will have found a new Vex rune to make Hoto...

Right now, I am still using Spirit cs + Ancient's Pledge + Shako + Smoke + SoE and random ammy, rings and charms. I need to upgrade right now. I tried the ancient P8 and realized that I am stuck there. Fuck it was dangerous haha!
If I want to achieve to kill Baal, I guess that I need to use my Mal, Ist and Vex runes...

What do you think? I am looking for comments on those setups or other ideas.
I tend to really like the setup #2 right now.

how about making a CtA and rock the same weapon? I think that would improve your survivability more than silence.

I prefer +3 hoto than +2 silence
And +2 Spirit than +0 Sanctuary.
Block isn't really important to me.
Always stay behind your shadow/merc.
Immortal gloves and boots are nice
+20 str +20 dex +25 IAS and life

You can take a look at my recent walk through to see the gear I had with ancients and Baal. Was pretty mediocre. Just spawn convenient attributes and separate them one by one.
