I’ve never done a untwinked melee walk and god damn it’s brutal. I used malice and a 3x tal flail to get through normal as double swing.

Then nm I made a honor war scepter and strength war scepter as my mains, with dual black flails for bosses. Painfully made it all the way through nm.


But i couldn’t do nm Baal waves 4 or 5. I had to kite them out of the throne room with a tele staff to force Baal to skip to his next phase. I’m lvl 57, no way I can grind xp. My kill speed is so painfully slow.

In hell a1 I can barely kill a p1 zombie.

I have a blood letter and a head striker I got from my 30 nm meph runs.

Should I respec to ww and dual wield them?

I just need to make it to lk to get the runes for my end game zerker build.

But I’d also like to be able to go back and do nm baals for xp, I’d like to be atleast level 70 before doing p8 lk.


Or what would be my best option if not the blood letter/head striker ww option?

Barbs need to do tons of Andy NM to get 2 butchers pupil and up them, then you can move to mephisto and pretty much gear most of your char (guillaume/arreat, laying of hand, string of ears, goreriders/goblin toe, raven frost) the only thing you miss is the amu and an armor, that can be a duress or treachery.

With that you should be able to rush up to LK.

Well I fucked it up bad. Wasted 2 of my respecs to try a build with gear I already had. Both were worse than my first lol.

I’m gonna make a new character and farm some gear for the barb. Untwinked melee is a bitch man.

I’m too lazy to farm two butchers and all that gear. Probably gonna make a hdin where I can do everything with 2 spirits and some random shit.

/edit to clarify I’m not trying to do a p8 walk. I’m just playing sp for fun. Plan to make multiple characters and self find their gear. I want a pitzerker but doing barb lvl 1 to pitzerker is just such a fucking pain.

I’ll make a much easier to use character first then gear and use my pitzerker for my end game farming

Yes, Untwinked barb is a cruel test of endurance in nm andy.

There are two easy options

First one is to do two handed berserk with maxed howl and weapon mastery first. Howl lets you pick your battles, weapon mastery = attack rating.

Weapon progression should go like
Savage polearm cube recipe (can get exceptional polearm too)
Insight polearm
Obedience polearm

Play this barb different from most builds, youre going to howl a lot. I recommend zerking every unique monster and not bothering with most of the trash mobs.

You could probably do the same thing with concentrate but I have never tried. Zerk is just so damn strong.

Second one is to use doubleswing (yes use doubleswing not frenzy) and maxed battlecry. Maxed battlecry will make your AR requirements basically zero and the monsters wont be doing shit for damage against you, so your subpar gear with subpar leech will be not so bad and you can use trash gimmick weapons like malice and whatever else you can get your grubby hands on.

Doubleswing only needs 1 point. You can do a couple if you want that zero mana cost, its kind of nice. Max bash for damage ofc. Doubleswing comes with a huge ias bonus so you can get away with using slow one handers.

Second piece of advice is to use peace armor (for critical strike skill) until you can get treachery. Lionheart is alright too.

Third piece of advice is to use holy freeze merc until your gear is good enough that you can get away with might.

After that always carry thaw pots in your belt until you find ravenfrost. If youre frustrated beyond belief for lack of cannot be frozen, farm normal mode for deaths sash and gloves, they rule.

You could also just get to lvl 30 with TalTalTal flail go full warcry with maxed howl

this was afaik the speedrun strat of legacy and there you couldnt even have insight

me personally would do what Dr_Lecter suggests
