Trying to decide if max block is worth losing out on the spirit shield, would probably run a gerkes with 74% to block base so hitting the max block wouldn’t use to much points, but I would lose the faster cast and the skills and all the life and mana. Also running ES for a little more cushion. What you guys think?

Unpopular opinion but for I played hc exclusively for years and botted multiple sorcs at the start of each ladder. Did a LOT of testing to finally find a Sorc build that could bot without dying everytime, and my final build ended up with 50% block.

Ever since then all my hc chars, Sorc or other(besides pally where max block is easy to get) would only get 50% block with stormsheild.

My philosophy was finding a good balance of block/raw hp. Going 75% on Sorc just leaves u with such little hp.

So I’d go 50% block with stormsheild so you can have a nice balance of block, hp, dr, and ofc stack res as well.

Ended up with sanctuary for a base of 64 % plus all the good stuff that comes with it, prob switch to ss when I find one, at 68 block chance with 160ish dex I mean 60 all res is pretty good

You don’t need max block. You need enough hp to survive a one-shot from some bullshit archer that you encounter once every 1000 games.

75% block with low hp = 25% chance to die when one shows up. If you have enough hp or dr to survive the hit it’s a 0% chance to die when one shows up. And a lot of the time these crazy stat enemies are dead before you even see them, since that’s what sorc is supposed to do.

I talked with a few other high level sorcs and they all said the same thing

Max block is a lot more useful if you don’t care about reaching 99
You’re only going to encounter a handful of enemies in a 1-99 journey that can actually one-shot you, and you probably won’t even get attacked by them unless you have weird teleport habits or they’re immune to your elements.

Similar to zons on hardcore, you don’t usually find out what enemies can kill you because your class is designed to never get hit. Get max res and at least 30-40% dr if you get hit often. If you’re using your ranged abilities right only archers will ever actually attack you.

Don’t forget hoto, nature’s peace and wisp give oak sage charges
