recently watched a walk through where they said only max cold mastery to -100 because that's the max negative res for pvm. wondering if this is true since i've just mostly done pvp over the years and haven't looked at the mechanics.
asking since d2r is coming and looking to make a sorc at the start and don't want to waste any points for a orb/fw build
any input would be appreciated!

Some monsters have 50 cold res, mephy has 75, so I tend to shoot for -175.

yea, a resist value of -100 is the pvm cap. But only going to 100% in cold mastery means that you don't reduce monsters WITH cold res to that point. And that's an awful lot of monsters in hell.
When I'm assigning points, I aim for -150, but value everthing beyond -100 less than I did up to that point
