If I were to use infinity on my merc as a blizz sorc then would it break all the cold immunes and I’ll be able to take her anywhere much as it does for lightning immunes?

Hi,

Conviction from infi break far less cold immunity than light immunity afaik :/

You can still use infi on your cold sorc's merc anw, for it is a very good weapon in general, and it will allow you to prioritize blizz synergies over masteries ;)

I've been using it on my WT sorc and I don't find much difference.
For example it does remove the immunity of the skeletons in Pit, but it doesnt on the rangers. It does lower their resistance to physical damage tho, so the merc kills them much faster.

Doesn't break immunity of De Seis or Wave 2 in Throne, so insight or eReaper are a much better choise.

Damn, de seis and wave2 were definitely a concern of mine. And if infinity did break their immunities I was going to use it over reapers. Sucks to hear that it doesn’t break their immunities.. :(

Why is there such a difference in the immunities that it breaks? Why doesn’t it break all immunities like it does with lightning?

because infinity only breaks immunities from mobs with <117res
most cold immune mobs have >117res
most light immune mobs have <117res

I do not know what weapon set you have in your second slot, but one thing you may try is to find and buy a wand with Lower Resist charges. LR's effects will add on top of those of Conviction so you MAY be able to break cold immunities like that. If you do, then your cold mastery will take over.

It takes some time, but you can buy such a wand -- or find it. When you encounter cold immune mobs, try and cast LR on them; the most I've seen (and use) is level 2 LR, which is 37% on top of the 85% provided by Infinity. That amouns to 122% total, a fith of it being 24%, which is enough to break 120% cold resistance. At level 1 LR, you are looking at 31%, 85 + 31 is 116%, a fifth of it, rounded down, being 23% -- again, enough to break 120% cold immunes.

Otherwise, well, you can go my way and trielementalist... No stone left unturned, everything falls eventually :p

Hahaha, wow I have never even considered a trielementalist! How do you like that? How does it compare to the more typical blizz or lite sorcs?
