Hi guys,

looking for a little bit of advice regarding hardcore sorc,since i ripped my old one lvl 95.

I'm using the following setup:

Hoto / shako / Maras / Mages / arach / bk / Wisp / Stormshield / Treks / viper

I take the wisp for Light abs, find it helps against souls.

Reason i'm posting is i still managed to RIP this char, does anyone have any useful things that are worth considering swapping to make it more survivable in HC?


I'm thinking of swapping maybe Viper / Stormshield for... spirit or phoenix & COH?

Or even the Maras - is it worth taking the rising sun to just negate any fire damage?

& DR - i need to find a reasonable way of getting more DR - is it worth running - if i do strip the stormshield off,

Just looking to see what's worked best for everyone else in HC?


Should i try and play with max block on stormshield - also would be capped DR (Ber in shako), and then take rising sun amu AND a wisp?

What is your merc setup?
What are your skills and stats?
What killed your level 95 sorc?

i don't have stats as it's long since deleted & the rebuild is currently lvl25, will be 85 in a couple of hours though.
Lag spike @ De Seis - think BO ran out & AMP'd as i teled, but no way of knowing.

I would do max block, up the vipermagi, use shiver armor instead of frozen armor, and roll with a normal act 2 defiance merc. If you have any spare points at all, one point in enchant helps out merc a lot but it is not a huge priority.

With 10k defense your odds of getting hit by trash mobs are like 22%. After max block and 45% DR and there are damn few melee attackers that scare me.

Test it out on single player first but I have yet to lose my level 98 blizz sorc and she has a similar build to yours, although I use Tgods 100% of the time and use the 65 fcr breakpoint instead. I find that tgods makes me immune to burning souls whereas wisp just heavily reduces their damage.

Fort merc setup otherwise looks good.

Also shael the stormshield for faster block.

Any recommendation for using Griffons instead of Shako, then using TG's belt?

i prefer to keep the 105 fcr BP for sure, but is losing shako vs griffons worth it?

What did you die to? Your setup is more than enough, probably a problem with your playstyle. trek is useless too, use aldur

Even for the stat boost?

FHR, str, vita...

I think your current gear setup is fine since you need the higher breakpoint for lightning.

de seis is super easy if you target the first knight you see. if you tele stomp without boo and with lower res or amp, good luck

Old Info... so go for 117% FCR i believe, so the only wiggle room you have will be Spirit: Note: might be cheaper to get, your merc was fine enough as well as your old setup, but as someone has already mentioned, tele stomp isn't really a great idea... also basically pure vita... up to you to test it out on SP first off.
