I remember using the merc with holy freeze aura, but dont most people suggest blessed aim?

I don't think blessed aim makes any sense
Just use might for damage or holy freeze to slow enemies

Yes, it adds only physical
I don't think you can have your merc increase hammer damage in any way
Some ppl prefer holy freeze for some additional safety

Paladin has relatively high defense anyway, thanks to the holy shield

holy freeze any day, the control it provides is much better than a few more thousand defense which you don't need with holyshield

true, but then again as a paladin you rly dont need that much defense anyways, you're already one of the most OP builds in the game.

tbh generally speaking holy freeze is a good option. but for instance i prefer to use might on mine just to make killing magic immunes (throne wave 2 i.e.) that much faster.

That's a valid option too, depends what you like to do i guess, not a huge fan of baal runs, i like chaos

yea i kind of agree with you, for chaos i would definately choose holy freeze 100% of the time. That Lord de Seis can be a prick sometimes
