My favorite is max block blizzard sorc.

I do something like this

Enough str for gear, enough dex for max block

Shako
Occulus or deaths fathom, hoto is fine too
Shaeled stormshield
Upped vipermagi
Thunder gods
Maras
Bk rings or stone of jordan rings
Wartravs
Double upped magefists
Cta/spirit monarch on switch

Normal defensive merc act 2
Eth insight thresher, although the mana regen is for convenience more than anything else
Eth bugged treachery
Andy's helm with ral

Merc gear can be the standard eth reapers/guillames/treachery if you want.

Skills
1 pt warmth
1 pt tele
1 pt static
Max blizzard and synergies
Enough into cold mastery to hit -175
Rest into shiver armor

Inventory
Storch
Anni
5 cold skillers with life
Rest res charms, mf, whatever

The build should have 10k defense. If you're super worried about hit recovery you can shael the viper and shako bit nothing in the game hits hard enough once you have 10k defense, max block with 5 frame block rate, 45% damage reduction, and 85 light res with sorb.

If you want to deal with cold immunes better you could probably do infinity merc and blizzard/nova or blizzard/fireball but I was fine with telestomping cold immunes to death with merc and static.

Alternatively you could just max frozen orb and synergy, 1 pt cold mastery with infinity merc then max enchant and synergies for sick merc damage. No cold skill punches hard like blizzard does though.

Isn't lvl17 cm only needed for pvm? I think more than - 100 doesn't work in pvm. I like blizzard mb the most also. But of course with infinity light sorc is better since no immuns.

Monsters with cold resist can be brought down to -100 with cold mastery.

Hell mephisto has 75 cold res so I generally just shoot for -175.

Most don't do any higher than -150 but I like deleting mephisto a little faster than having a couple extra skills since I run him so much. Also helps against ubers, which I do assist with from time to time.

i like running lite sorc for HC, its my goto for sorc. right now im running a tal set and its very capable and has enough tankiness, but will be upgrading down the line
