Hello, I'm super excited to be getting back into Diablo 2....its been over a decade since I last played. I was wondering what is the best Paladin build to do Chaos and Ball Hell Runs? Mostly looking for skill and attribute allocation and equipment help? I apologize if there is already a thread for this type of info, but I couldn't really find a definitive answer for my character build questions. TIA!

I usually max block

Can swap some gear around if you want more mf
But non 125 hdin are trash

maxing holyshield is overrated, as you will have 75% block, high defense and 30+ dr even with the shittiest of setups.
instead, you can pump points into Resist Lightning, as 2 hard points in skill give +1 Light Res, and aura doesn't need to be active for this to take effect.
extremely useful against souls

I did this for a while but ultimately went back to maxing holy shield because souls died super easy either way and I didn't notice any difference haha. I see the appeal on paper but in practice the souls are just dropping like flies with zero effort regardless.

True, however I always find them to be similar to glass cannon bowzons.
Die in 1 hit, but also deal shittons of dmg

However, I'm sure place like Pits and few other would benefit more from Holy Shield yeah
