Just came back on diablo 2 after so many years off. I'm wondering, what do you suggest me to do, a ladder or non-ladder character?
What will be more affordable for me to buy gear on d2jsp, ladder or non-ladder?

non ladder is cheaper
both is equally dead. people are either botting pvm or pvping with few friends

2 years ago when i went to baaling again only active channel i found was op bhsc-baal which was nonladd br ch. So i played in nonladder, ladder was pretty much dead.

NL has no queues, chat works more often, fewer players, cheaper items, and better giveaways. You can probably get tons of free high tier gear when L converts to NL.
L has exclusive unique and runewords and more opportunity to make fg. Ladder enemies have slightly more hp, but it’s not noticeable.

Once you get geared and running with a small pool of fg beyond what you need, I’d say NL is better for general QoL until they fix the servers. There is no actual PvM content (other than items) that are unique to Ladder nor are those items necessary to clear all content. So, if all you want is to “beat hell” or do ubers, NL is quite fine.

any, ladder has begun for some time and the usual starting items shako hoto etc. are cheap now.

thinking about coming back too, is there a catch up / "remember the stuff you forgotten" / what's changed guide? i saw something about making a rune word text file to get runes from ladder only, and what are some legal plugins?
