Hello,

So, even though the game is 20 years old, I have never played a smiter before, and I have never set foot in any of the pandemonium event areas. I have recently built a smiter-zealot to get through this and I will soon try it. However, I'd like to be 100% prepared.
Here's my build :

- Weapon : Grief PB
- Shield : Up'ed HoZ with Pdiamond
- Helm : Um'ed Guillaume's Face
- Armor : CoH
- Gloves : Dracs
- Belt : String of Ears
- Boots : Goblin Toe
- Amulet : Highlord's
- Rings : Ravenfrost, Dwarf Star

On switch : life tap wand and Griswold's Honor with 3 Pdiamond (for temporary resists while tapping)
I have a treachery for pre-fade

My life currently sits at ~1100 at lvl86

Here are my questions :
1. Is CtA necessary (or, at least, significantly helpful) to run the events ? My budget is limited and therefore i'm reluctant to invest on that unless I know it's gonna help a lot. Getting a barb on a second account multi-boxing to prebuff is not an option for me
2. Is it doable to do the organ runs without teleport ? All the videos I've seen show the smiter entering through a TP directly on the boss.

About the build, there seems to be a debate on which skills to max. My currently maxed skills are Holy Shield and Fanaticism. Will maxing zeal be more useful than smite or is it the opposite (or should I max both) ? Is 1 point in salvation sufficient for meph (I sit at max resists and treachery will be used of course) ? Is it worth it to increase max resists through the resist auras ?

Thank you for your help !

Some quick answers, though I'm sure there are more qualified people out there:
1 - 1k hp seems a bit low so I'd want cta if I were you. Or maybe you just need to stack more charms in your inventory. But lilith and mephisto can hit pretty hard, especially lilith if those bird mobs are about that curse you with amp damage.
2 - yes its doable, but finding lilith can be a pain. Usual is always just at the end of the path in furnace, duriels generally pretty easy to find, but afaik theres no predictable pattern to where lilith spawns and mobs in matrons lair are annoying.

If you're not teleporting straight to ubers it might be handy to have zeal to clear an area to fight lilith for example. But my smiter I've gone with putting points into lightning and fire res aura to boost max res there.

Other than that your gear looks more than good enough. My smiter has far worse gear and it's no problem, though does get 4k+ life with bo, so again I'd suggest cta or making friends with a barb!

Edit to add: I'm pretty sure there are videos out there of people doing it with like 200hp total, so I wouldnt worry too much about the whole thing!

Your setup is fine.

At 1 point into Salvation (and +5 from items), you'll have a total of 327% all res (with an extra 35% light res).
"Only" 300% is required to maintain 75@ against Uber-Mephisto.
And this without counting any Annihilus or Torch, I assume you have none.
You also have (up to) 30 MDR, which is very useful, and some cold and fire absorb, so don't worry on that side.

Reaching the mini bosses is much more easier with Zeal than with Smite.
Try to max : Sacrifice, Smite, Fanatism, Holy shield.
1 point into Zeal is enough to unlock 5 attacks. Use your spare points here.

At level 86 (97 available points), you can imagine :
20 Sacrifice
10 Zeal
20 Smite
20 Holy shield (+3 pre-skills)
1 Salvation
20 Fanatism (+3 pre-skills)

1100 hp is perfectly fine to go, since you have a life tap wand on switch.
If you can equip some random life charms, that would be easier for a first time-UT. And with some practice, you'll see it's not necessary.

Good luck !

I would recommend to max Zeal and its synergies, you will be using Zeal more than Smite if you are walking. You don't really need to boost Holy Shield and Smite when you have Grief, don't think of it as a Smiter, just build a Zealot.

Swap Goblin Toe to Gores, you want as much Deadly Strike as possible for Zeal, 50% CB is more than enough to Smite bosses down in seconds.

Yes you will want Cta. It is achievable without, but with 1k hp and low DR% you can be 1 shotted.

You don't need CoH, you could swap to Forti or Shaftstop. Save yourself a Ber rune.

1 point Salvation is fine.

You can always use a Teleport amulet to get to Lilith and Izual quickly.

cta is needed. that life is low, use more 18-20 life scs, instead pc skillers
skills: 20 fana 20 smite 20 holy shield 20 zeal 10-15 to defiance, some to sacrifice. that is my suggestion, i think zeal is not so needed. instead sacrifice, max zeal skill (that gives ar too, not like sacrifice bonus)

1. setup is fine.
i like exile + LOH combo, but zaka + dracs is also nice (25 ow, nice skill, life etc)
dwarf and goblin are also nice choice. gore is nice if u have enough cb (with GOD or LW or any different build). but smite doesnt have DS (just OW, CB), gore is good for zeal skill only
if u have problems with res, make a treachery armor just for precasting fade
instead string, u can try TG
instead COH, i like to collect some res sc and using forti or duress armor. forti has dtgtm, which is usefull at baal. duress has lot of nice adds (but then u need more res scs)

2. for organ runs, use charge to run fast or
if u buy only keysets (or wanna get torch from selffound keys) u can make it a telesmiter. after bo, change cta to wizzy. if bo spirit has 35 fcr, u can reach 125 fcr with TO gloves (then u need exile for life tap) + arach + wizzy + spirit. when u find lilith, just switch back

why not eni?

why not hammerdin/1 pt smite anyway?

and why not other char for pvm/ubers like a trap/kick sin?

smiters are like cheating in ubers.

Both making good points. I went with maxing zeal. I put some points in sacrifice but the list additionnal damage was very small so I went with points in smite in defiance.

Because Enigma would cost me all my remaining fgs and I would therefore wouldnt have enough to even buy keys xD
Basically I went with this setup because I had most of it already and I wanted to craft CoH for another char so I thought I'd give it a go (I needed the resists) and transfer it if it didnt do the job in the end. Enigma is a goal for another day, especially if torches get me some gold.

Update : I went in and, except for the fact the battlenet closed my game after opening my 3 portals, wasting a whole set of keys, it was literally a walk in the park. Thanks everyone for your help !
