I've checked out a few of the guides, but didn't see any that really resonated for the current status of D2.

What is, in ya'll's opinion, the best setup for a pure trapsin to rape and pillage chaos/baal runs? What gear should I get?

depends on which ias bp u aim for and if hc or sc

the Thing is there is also the runeword Passion which would be ideal if u dont have the ability to get some sick claws with ias
also depends on if u use fade or burst of Speed
not sure if u knew : griffon doesnt work on trapsin since traps are considered to be minions
ah yea and infy on merc is obviously a must
i usually ran this Setup with a decent ias bp not sure which tho didnt Play assa in a while with fade active decent life and 10k Damage

Shako " 5/5 Fire Rbf ", Hoto, Enigma, Spirit Mona ( high mana ), Magefist, Arach, Silkwaves, Mara, 2xSoj. Get missing Res from small charms ( Life / Res ), Torc + Anni, get some Trap Skiller with Life.

Max Fire Blast first ( handy vs non brokable Lite Immuns at Chaos ), one point Shadow WARRIOR if feels so ( don't use Sahdow Master at PvM... ), one point Burst of Speed ( use this over Fade for spamming Fire Blast, fast trap laying speed ), rest points to Light Sentry + Death Sentry + Charge Sentry and remaining to Shock Web.

That was PvM setup which i used, also get Merch with Infy.
