is there a way to get this patch installed short of installing it with an original copy of the disks?

i'd love to try the game as it was originally and be able to find some sweet stuff

if anyone could help that would be extremely appreciated

Afaik joey has a way, probably old iso files. Search for him in this forum, he may be able to help you.

Download program called cactus. You can use it with whatever d2 you’ve got installed already. Quick YouTube tutorial and you can play all patches + modern + bnet from the same manager

Sorc cooldowns are removed lol. The rest I have yet to uncover

The two most OP skills are Corpse Explosion and Static Field, as they scale with the number players.
As for Static, since there are no immunities in Classic D2, you can use that in every situation, to lower the mobs HP till 1, then use any other finishing spell.
As for CE, there is a radius bug (a.k.a star-bug), which allows you to kill enemies off-screen. This also applies to SF btw.

Another OP skill is WW for the massive ammount of hit checks. Give a Pike to your barb and he will kill everything in seconds, even in Hell. You can also equip Iceblink armor, since no immunities, every monster can be freezed.

TL;DR: necro, sorc and barb are the most OP chars in 1.00.
