i see a lot of runners using mercs, does that make the run to easy? i personally feel like a merc invalidates a lot of peoples "skill" sort of like a crutch they fall back on to often

also do people only run hardcore? does anyone even care about softcore runs?

what are the general opinions on plugy? or other mods?

would anyone even care about a legit current patch d2 run without plugy and no ladder runewords?

i mean obviously d2 can be played however you see fit.. but i guess i'm just curious as to what people feel is the best setup to do runs?
old patch + plugy? current patch without mods? etc

Having a merc doesn’t make the game “too easy”

There are every different types of runners here imaginable, and all are followed and enjoyed by everyone watching. Although hardcore makes up a vast majority of them, because most people are experienced enough to have zero interest in the lack of a challenge that softcore ultimately possesses.

so at the end of the day it comes down to making the experience what you would enjoy the most.

But don’t play softcore in my opinion.
Myself especially, and most others would be far less interested. The constant risk of perma death in hardcore is what makes this game so fun, in my opinion, and is what makes keeping track of people’s progress so much more entertaining and rewarding.

cry about plugY, but use sorc with ladder runewords and <p8 reruns

Cry about hackers but play non legit realms and modifications to the game

Besides, I played exclusively hardcore ladder on bnet for almost two decades on and off, before I even discovered plugy 4-5 months ago.

I’m not too concerned about dying in hardcore. It doesn’t happen to me.

id rather see an old patch (1.09 or older) with plugy than a current patch legit walk
