Hey All!

Trying another WT, this time making it a little more interesting with a gamble-only Paladin.

Rules:
-Hardcore
-Players 8 at all times
-Reruns allowed for experience/gold only
-Can only equip items that have been gambled
-Charms are allowed
-This also means no buying potions, tomes, etc. (Repairing is allowed)
-Extended stash, however, probably won't use much of it
-Gems/Runes are allowed if socketed into items that have been gambled with sockets, or sockets added to gambled items in the cube
-Cube recipes and runewords NOT allowed, not even for merc. (Merc gear must also be gambled)

So let's go!

Don't think Wager gambled this sword and shield, so cya later

First gambled item halfway through the den

So let's have a little discussion. Does anyone have any build ideas? I'll probably start with the standard Holy Fire Zealer for normal, but I'm not sure what route to go for NM and hell. I thought possibly Hammerdin, but I won't be able to gamble much in the form of +skill gear. Hammer is a pretty safe bet I assume, even without +skills.

Any other ideas? Something that can actually be useful with a gambled weapon..

I’m glad you liked the gambler idea. I need to do this soon as well, I’ve been meaning to for a while. I personally would be okay allowing potions, tomes and other small purchasable items, so long as all your gear is, of course, gambled for.

I’m doing a “living off the land” walkthrough currently which that rule against buying potions and scrolls etc reminded me of. (Admittedly she’s been put on hiatus due to my obsession with getting my blizzer to 98)

But good luck and I will be keeping a close eye on this one :thumbsup:

This will definitely have to be a zealer for hell because gambling for a +skill would be very difficult.

For ease of playing thru to get to hell, I Would stick to the holy auras until defeating nightmare baal unless u find a nice physical weapon before then.

Normal = holy fire
Nightmare = holy shock
Hell = fanat

I'm assuming ur allowed to use ur cube to up ur gambled items also or is that considered a cube recipe???

I originally got the idea from watching MrLlamaSC play a gamble only barbarian on YouTube and then I suggested it in a thread the other day asking for unique new WT challenges.. Check out Llamas video to see a good example. He opted out of charms and everything. I didn’t watch the whole thing but it really made me want to try it.

Well I am allowing sockets via cube so I think upping via cube is okay too. I meant no cube recipes as in crafted items. I think once I reach a decent level I’ll be able to gamble a rare with high Ed and fools mod. Lots of running travincal for gold that’s for sure

I would go for hammerdin with these rules really.

1, as said hdin destroys the game without great gear, you will only have troubles into the maggot lair but thats only a single run each time
2, for travi runs hammer > zealer any time, they are never magic immunes and you can easily avoid their deadly fire enchant on death
3, gambled gear will be easier to find for hammerdin. Zealer wont even find something decent from gambling, unless you axe extremely lucky with a death cleaver or something and still, you cant gamble eth items, but you could get butchers or so with some patience.
For hdin you can easily find your stuff via gambling : suicid branch, magefist/horadrim, peasant crown/shako, viper, etlich, any fc rings/sojs/bk, 2pala 30/20 rare shield or zaka, waterwalks and string/arach will make it to endgame for sure
