Hello all,

I am coming back from a long hiatus from D2 because of the recent D4 announcement. Me and my coworker are going to be doing a couple playthrus with various character combos and what not for nostalgia.

We will be doing player 8 / SC for the first couple runs.

I know of some variants like one where you cannot rerun any area/boss (i.e. you have to clear every map to get the gold, exp, and gear you will need to finish Hell A5 as you cannot re-farm an area or fight a boss for loot a second time). Was curious as to what some other random gameplay variants are for making the game more fun?

Any and all suggestions appreciated!

non-cookie cutter builds

no runewords

no respecs

forced gear - ie. sword barb, mace druid, etc

no belt

list goes on and on.

One fun challenge I’d like to find time for soon is a gambled items only character. I’m still not sure of the rules and exceptions this should include yet. Like obviously you and your merc can only use gear that you’ve gambled for from vendors. And then either no charms allowed, or maybe you can only use charms that you’ve re-rolled with 3 perfect gems first.

Maybe something like giving yourself infinite gold and every level you get to gamble one item for each slot? Aka helm, chest, weap1/2, ringx2, belt, boots, gloves, ammy

That could be a high roller variance of playing it, although it would be both more painful and more rewarding to play it untwinked, just imagine how good it would feel to finally save up your first 65,000 gold to gamble an amulet and for it to actually be good x)

not to mention when you hit lv 80 or so, that could be mighty painful. At that level you're getting about 100k gold per boss clear give or take, and it would just mock you, laughing at your fresh xp bar!

but other weapons like daggers swords etc . maybe ?

maybe throw barb but with some limitations as above said. ?
