Since my classic sorc died.....
I've been itching to try a leap attack barb.. Seems like a shit ton of damage from the skill...

+ 670 %

Leap Attack Receives Bonuses From:
Leap: +10% Damage Per Level = +200%

My questions are...

What does or does not effect the skill?
- Like CB, OW, DS, CTC

Does IAS effect the swing speed?

For some reason I cant get amazonbasin to load on either of my devices

Edit
Never mind, it finally loaded

Double Edit
It doesnt say anything about the CB and stuff or ias, so I assume the damage modifiers still counts if attack is successful (of course)

Only weapon type affects length of Leap Attack sequence: does not speed up or slow down with any positive or negative attack rate modifiers.

Weapon Minimum sequence length Attacks per second
Frames Seconds
Two weapons or bare handed 22 0.88 ~1.14
All one-handed weapons 25 1.00 1.00
Two-handed sword 27 1.08 ~0.93
All other two-handed weapons 28 1.12 ~0.89

So i understand that IAS does nothing.... And im better off going weapon/shield combo for faster attack speed.. But is there that big of a difference between 1.14 & 0.89 attacks per second???

Comparison:

0.25 attacks per second & Defense
VS
More damage

2 handed leap/high stun duration War Cry is fun. I did it on softcore p8 and loved it, although I was using shared stash on my softcore characters, so I had full IK set waiting at level 76

I dont think i would like the use of war cry (stun),adding stun would make it alot easier it seems so we would see once i got to that point
I would think my skill layout would be something like this....

20 leap
20 leap attack
20 mastery
20 Battle orders
1 battle command
1 shout
1 howl
1 taunt
1 battle cry
1 iron skin
1 natural resistances (couple more if need be)

Rest in Shout or War Cry if i choose to go there

I have thought about this build as a grindy character, but the attacks per second has always turned me off. You're going to get < 1 attack per second because of how Leap Attack works and you're not going to get the damage boost to make it really worth it. With the skills above, without gear, you'll get 1073% ED.

That sounds impressive, but compare that to a fully maxed Sacrifice Paladin (not just because I'm playing one but because they are another specialized grindy build), which gets 1268% ED with fully synergized sacrifice and >2 attacks per second.

is there a way to download a full copy of the amazon basin wiki for when it inevitably goes down?
anyway, leap attack works best when you simply exploit the fact you can make it hit without an animation as it says on the wiki, you can test it ingame and see for yourself;

When a target is not selected and the Barbarian does not leap over or land on sub-tiles directly adjacent to a target within melee range, then the attack animation may not be executed even though the attack is: this can reduce the attack interval to a minimum of 15 frames, the minimum length of the leaping animation. [8] However, achieving this with consecutive attacks to the same target can be difficult, even when it is not knocked back.

as long as you aim it correctly, which is very hard but you can get the hang of it, you can attack pretty fast even with a 0% ias war pike
its also much easier to do with longer attack range weapons, so getting range 5 is critical. Unlike whirlwind, you can attack at full weapon range

I just seen the nice ED and wanted to try it since i haven't seen a walk thru with it being the main skill.
