Hey everybody,

I'm going to try to find some kick ass vita items from patch 1.07 and transfer them to my current 1.14 character but I had a few questions before pulling the trigger. As far as installation, I currently have my single player 1.14 character backed up and saved in a different folder (charactername.d2s, charactername.key, charactername.ma0, charactername.ma1, charactername.ma2, characternamema3, and charactername.map files all saved).

I'm following Repusz's guide from diabloii.net found here: https://www.diabloii.net/forums/threads/repuszs-1-07-guide-repost.472485/

It states:
1. Copy your current Diablo II folder to a separate directory, and re-name it to something like Diablo II v1.07 or whatever you like. (DONE)

2. Delete the patch.mpq file in this folder. (DONE)

3. Replace the current Game.exe, D2game.dll, D2Client.dll and D2Common.dll file with the v1.07 files.

--This is where I'm struggling to find each file in the file directory of my 1.07 disc.
1. I've found the .exe in my current install folder for 1.14 entitled "Game" which launches the game fine but I can't find the .exe file on my 1.07 disc. Can anyone provide the directory path in which its installed?
2. I found multiple .dll files when searching the 1.07 disc but none are named "D2game.dll". The options I have are CFGMGR32.DLL, DSETUP.DLL, DSETUP32.DLL, SETUPAPI.DLL, BLINKW32.DLL, MFC42.DLL, and MSVCRT.DLL. Once I find the correct folder, what file do I replace in my 1.14 installation (since nothing is listed as D2game.dll)?
3. Similar to #2, no files on my 1.07 disc are named D2Client.dll and what do I replace on my 1.14 install
4. Same as #2 and #3 since no files on my 1.07 disc are called D2Common.dll and what do I replace on my 1.14 install.

Maybe I'm just really overthinking it, but I want to make sure I do this right so that I don't mess everything up haha. Would the best idea just to uninstall the entire game (since I have my character backed up already) and reinstall the game since my discs are v1.07? If I do that, I assume I'll have to avoid clicking on bnet since that's how I recall the game being updated to the current patch.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

I went ahead and uninstalled D2 and D2 LoD before reinstalling both to get to 1.07 with my expansion disc. Now it doesn't want to get past the installation for LoD. The file that it's stuck on with the expansion disc is C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\d2exp.mpq. I have D2 set to run in compatibility mode XP Service Pack 3 and everything but it refuses to progress lol. I did a full D2 install previously. Maybe only installing the single player version of D2 and D2 LoD will help. Gonna give that a try now

I tried only installing the single player version on D2, that went fine, but I'm still getting stuck upgrading to D2 LoD. Anyone know if there's anything I can do to get past the installation step where it asks you to put in the Expansion Disc after already having put in the D2 Play Disc? I've been hitting the "Ok" button after it asks me to put in the disc which normally progresses the install but it'll just keep asking for the expansion disc now even though it's already in the drive :(

I went through and deleted my entire D2 folder along with the saved games with the exception of my one single player char that's still alive and backed up. I think I'm going to give it another shot tomorrow afternoon. I spent 2-3 hours uninstalling, reinstalling, and swapping discs this morning and that was enough for me

Why not just use d2se to change patches?

I haven't used d2se before, I figured uninstalling the game, deleting all traces of it, then reinstalling would be easy enough. I was wrong
