Okay I was thinking of putting an obediance on my fire sorcs merc. Would the -fire res from it make my sorcs fire dmg hit harder on enemies affected by it?

enemies aren't affected by it
-res is not a debuff for the merc's enemies it's a buff for you merc's dmg
it does nothing for you

enemis ARE affected, but it des not mean it works for ur char skills, just for ur merc attacks; in case of Infy, for example, the -55% lr makes the ctc ''chain lighting'' a little more powerful (not much...) and pretty sure if ur merc uses dream helm dmg is boosted too.

Not worth it, tbh, but yes, enemies are affected this way.
