So for the first 40 levels or so (normal) what is your go to wep? I crafted Malice in a battle axe and it carried me from act2-5 until pindle, where the damage just fell short with beserk.
I'm level 35 now, using a rare Pike I gambled not long ago. I'm doing 140-565 or so now, but it's very slow and doesn't hit quite as hard as I feel it should. I'm about to go back and farm some Rals to cube my way to Amn to make strength in a two handed weapon. What should I look for? Probably 40-60 runs into shenk and 20-25 into pindle and haven't found a single thing to use as a wep.

ivl = 50. The polearm will always have the Savage prefix (66-80% Enhanced Damage) and has a chance at getting a suffix as well. The polearm will be one of the following, selected randomly: Bardiche, Battle Scythe, Bill, Halberd, Lochaber Axe, Partizan, Poleaxe, Scythe, Voulge, War Scythe (put another way, any normal polearm or any exceptional polearm other than Bec-de-Corbin and Grim Scythe).

Cruel 1-2 socket GP/CA (you can cube sockets with chipped gems in a magic one)

I actually just ended up finding a heart Carver. Sadly it's better than anything I had. 700 beserk damage, ITD send 35 DS. Kind of under rated actually.. the +4 find item with my +3 find item helm gives me a 40% chance to hork after bo. Pretty cool actually lol

Barb progression is definitely hard and slow.
