i realize that i am computer illiterate.

I was looking at the sticky and it says to copy the txt into the diablo ii >> data >> global >> excel file

However, I do not have the “data” file in my diablo ii folder. I have a folder that says d2data.mpq, but that does not contain any other folders. just the notepad text.

what am i doing wrong here?

create those folders inside of each other.

They don't exist. You need to manually create the folders in your diablo folder and then copy the file.
