What do I do when I want to keep playing my single player chars on a new pc ?
Copy some folders I assume but which ones do I need?

Just copy the files from Save folder inside your diablo folder mate
Paste it into new pc on the same location and you r good to go

Newest patch or?
Save folder used to be in your diablo II folder but they changed it somewhere

for newer patches it is C:\Users\Scientifix\Saved Games\Diablo II\

type in char name in search and all char files should show up

you should need only the d2s file of character btw
