When this forum started doing /p8 walk throughs years ago(Shout out to TheBe for being the OG of it all) the rules were all uniform. You shall always be on /p8 with the only exception being for Countess reruns since it makes no sense that Countess rune drops get worse as the number of players go up. Since I've started my most recent walkthrough(first in a couple years) and started to read through others again, I've noticed a lot of people doing Andy/meph reruns on settings lower than /p8 to make it quicker. To me this is definitely "cheating" because you shouldn't be allowed to essentially dumb down the challenge just to make mfing easier. We all use /p8 to make the game an actual challenge. News flash, its really fucking easy on lower settings.

Now I wanted to pose this question for two reasons.

First, I'm just wondering if everyone agrees that farming places like Andy/Meph below /p8 is cheating?

The second reason is my personal dilemma. I recently read that the best way to farm Jah/Cham is to do Travincial on /p3. The reason for /p3 is because the drops are nearly as good as /p8, but obviously you clear it much faster. While I want to test this on my Bow/Jav Hybrid I'm playing now, I also feel like its cheating since its definitely not worth it if I do it on /p8, it would take way too long to be worthwhile. So the question here is since its "mathematically" beneficial(and only for that reason) to farm on /p3 for a specific rune(Jah) is it the same as doing countess runs on /p1? Or is this just as much cheating as doing anything else below /p8?

If you put in your rules that is P8 always except countess reruns I believe it is breaking your rules. Not sure if I would call it cheating.

Why would it be cheating? Lol. Jesus fucking Christ. People need to stop caring about whether one way of playing a game different from another is cheating or not.

If i say my wt is /p8 ans use /p3 because i read that it's better odds of hr(when in fact its just for clearing speed) it is cheating. Just be honest about it and mention it in the thread

If someone wants to farm on something less than P8 then that's up to them. They're just cheating themselves if they set their rules to be P8 at all times except countess reruns. I personally don't post my walkthroughs, so I sometimes farm on P5 if I've had a few drinks or am tired and whatnot. If someone thinks less of me for farming on less than P8, that's up to them. I couldn't give two shits haha

there is only one drama-low policy. you make your own rules, you follow those rules, people will read it if they dig your rules. if you get caught not following your own rules people can then bitch, ditch, or keep watching.

trying to make a uniform set of rules wont work, the discussion itself always falls to pieces.

it would be nice if we could erase certain programs to do that, but without a reality bending machine we cant.

I think people forget that this is just a game. It's for your entertainment play it however you want.
