Generally speaking, infinity is pretty useless for a cold sorc

However, Infinity is by the far the best weapon to use on a cold sorceress.

It saves you 17 points into Cold mastery, inflicts -85% light res for static, -85% fire res for fireballs.

It's also a very powerful weapon by its own : high ed, 40% CB, 95% chance-to-hit, immuned to hostile conviction...

it's hardly a cold sorc when it has 50+ points invested in dealing fire damage

17 less points into CM means a free 1 FM + 15 fireball. It starts to deliver damage (~1K with all plus skill from gear). Now add -85%EFR from conviction and splash damage...
It's much more useful against cold immuned than letting a Reaper merc kills slowly, in my opinion.
I'm not talking here about some cold/fire hybrid, but a pure Blizzard build who don't know what to do once Blizzard is maxed (82 points required).

And -85%ELR on static still helps a lot... (I guess any Blizzard build has 1 into Static, given it's by far the most powerful damage skill in that game).
