Quick update into the new ladder season. Tyrild, jab throw thank zon, and taurius, berserk barb, first going bash, double throw, axe and throw mastery. Setting up for quest bugged boss runs later. Both are at inner cloister.

First rare was a decent large axe, barb with bash and axe mastery does 16-42 damage and did blood raven in 4 hits. Doing throwing axe and knives on switch for ranged capability.

So far, through act 1. Using jab zon first as plough. Throwing spears does big damage. If facing a big pack or strong foe, like the smith, run back, toss 5-7 spears, jab a while, run away, continue. Javelins does not deal big damage, but when you get to level 10 or so, start gambling at gheeds, 2300 gold you can gamble pilums. And he sells them normally too, i think. Increases damage a lot.

Actually had two near death .... the smith bashed me good, two fast hits did 60 hit points, 23 left, had to save and exit. Luckily i survived. Another thing happened with some archers before him, a volley, quick decrease. I think i will face a few more such situations ^^ but, otherwise, strong forward motion for such an unorthodox build.

The barb i will just do normal leveling, like tristruns and so.

Last, doing bone ash runs, inner cloister, trying to ignore most monsters unless packs. First unique! And it's damn ethereal blood crescent .......... wth can i use that for xD I don't think it can be used for anything. I may give it for free. May test it on andy on zon just for fun.

That's the first 1 hour 30 minutes done. Nice start!!

Hooly hell ..... bout the 30-40'th bone ash run (inner cloister), luck struck...... gorefoot drops from random monster, and then, big luck on gheeds..... i was wondering why the hell i was not building gold, lol ... i had gambled pilums before, getting %mana leech. And kept repairing those ^^ Cost a fortune to repair ... gambling one more, before deciding to take a break till tomorrow, i get the best rare pilums ... 10% ias, 10 MAX DMG ... 28% ed, 10% ias.... AND replenish xD Crazy crazy crazy....... such luck!

And every item slot except one ring and amulet is rare, and boots gorefoot. This is a flying start.

Bone ash runs. Always tried to bank on it, this time i went for it. They drop stuff in there. Bone ash drops rare about every 5th run. It's worth it. You get exp too, level 15 i think now, andy will be a piece of cake.

I think something like 8-20 jab damage, and 15-40 throw damage.. before 54% crit, level 9 crit... So this is a good thing. Now to level barb before going through act 1 and then starting on act 2.

Jab works very well. One great thing, you jab at a monster, it runs away or is glitched, you still hit it, because of the 2 rangeadd.

Merc has a great bow too, very regular hunter's bow with 2 chipped topaz, hits like lightning bolts ^^ Cool. Concept is to keep using act 1 merc forever. As a challenge.

Both chars did andy without any trouble, barb bash two hand axe, too chunks of hp from andy, ama jab did great, quick n easy.

Ama got cleglaw gloves. It's a hard toss up between those and some resist rare gloves, which i am keeping for the scarab demons, 30% lr instead of 20% lr, those 10% may make a difference. %slow isn't that useful anyway, nor is kb.

Should i by some strange stroke of luck find the other two gear pieces within the next act, i may actually try to use them on both chars. Weird, but it is a high damage dealing set.

Otherwise both ready to do act 2, ama done radament quest. Ama lvl 17, keep skilling the passive tree. Barb lvl 15 doing bash+double throw, but will probably do concentration when that comes. The goal is berserk. Tried using impale on radament, actually took some chunks of damage, 20-100 damage before crit on 1-h rare pilum, so it can do some damage. But jab is probably better. I find that block animation cancels impale, so that can be a drawback. Will probably use fend when that comes, but it's far off yet.

Very much anxious about duriel ^^ Hoping ama does well there.

Going through act 2 ..

Shield: Bone shield, defense 10-30, low str req, shop from drognan. Had to reset window to shop for high defense or ed% + 2 sockets. Hard to get, but it's the best shield for the lowest str req. Flawed diamond n flawed sapphire for extra cold resist, facing duriel, will be a help. though thawing poits will do, will get extra proteccion.

Armor; Breast place, +3 damage, 10% damage to mana, n some other stuff jewel, then a jewel of envy i was lucky to find, +20 poison dmg for 2 seconds. This provides an interesting beneficial factor at least for barb. With barb, you swing each time, you deal enough damage to not kill every enemy each time, but eleave them with like 20-30% hit points. The 20 poison damage then kills them. This is nice. Usng trhowing axed n double throw on switch, this really murders them, it's very damageing.

Helmet: Superior full helmet with 2 osckets, bets can be for low str req, 1 normal 1 flawed skull for hp regen and mana regen.

Needing to find better gloves and belts, that is hte biggest one right nw .. trying to gamble, but very bad luck with it.

Barb was lucky to find deathspade from andy, it does decent damage with bash, now concentrate, n the +4 mana after kill is greatly helpful.


We are closing in on duriel, bot chars soon in arcane sacntuary. Act 2 is the long stretch, gotta just work your way through, the more you stress, the slower it goes.... one big tip is to not fight every group, also in maggot tunnels, just pass'em if you can. Save time.

Duriel dies, act 3 start

Duriel went pretty well, Barb did actually better, had more hit points, alternating bash n concentrate. Bash does a little bit more damage, concentrate more defense. But very close in damage. Deathspade works well. Took a little chunk of health off duriel each hit, n didn't take big damage hits self. It went well. He dropped cleglaw shield, so now i got two gear pieces............ using it, but not very huge improvement. Good enough. Happy to get SOMETHING at least........

Ama did slightly worse. Lesser hit points, seemed to take more damage somehow. Jab does great, deals almost more damage than barb. But took more damage from duriel - i forgot to chug thawing pots before the fight, first thing happens, i take a whopping 100 hit point swing from duriel, 250-150 .... got me racin away lol. Chugged the pots, now i take lesser damage. Jab did equally as good damage as barb, with axe mastery, but took more damage myself. Had to go to town perhaps 3 times. But still, did fairly well. Not much of a prooblem. Got shadowfang 2 h sword, played around with it with zon, actually does okay lol xD Kills a lot in 1 hit, but lose the shield, so defense n resist goes down, that's not posssible.

Using breast plate with damage jewels. Increases damage good.

Now in act 3, got to spider forest wp, using ama as the plough. Lvl 21. Gambled a bit, first window i spot a circlet, which turned out to 35 life. Which was an upgrade, so i use that. Tried 30 more times, no circlet. Weird.

When i get to travincal, i may do some 30-40 runs on each char, to build exp and hope for good drops. Really pumped about that. Ama needs better protective gear. 312 hit points .... n reisst in the 20-30% range, is not good enough. I take 20-30 hp hits. Standing still seems to help.

And yes! Act 1 merc actually isn't that bad. Yes, she wanders abit, but when starts firing, does pick off enemeies, n the inner sight actualy also helps. Does not die or get into trouble as often as act 2 merc, so that's a relief. 3 chipped topax, hoping for more flawed ones, perhaps at travi, to make a bigger damage bow.

Act 3, long distance travelling


DANG this was unlucky map roll xD Decided to go from spider forest and onward ............. of course could never find any waypoint, and i think this must be the longest act 3 map roll i've ever had in d2. Had to go all the way through great marsh, then a friggin long-ass road through flayer jungle to get to kurast.......... found kurast bazaar wp. But at lower kurast chests, that goddang rack you pick on the north east hut, i friggin glitched stuck!!!!!! So i had to friggin run through the jungle AGAIN xD

Then i could switch with barb, run through unchallenged and get the waypoint...... Dang what a long run. Sooo friggin glad i found those gorefoot boots, 20% frw, otherwise i think i might just have gone insane xD Watched through an entire eupsode of macgyver just to run through once ^^ But phew, finally through. Now to find that goddamn heart in the sewers, dangerous place with the dolls, also the horadrim ancients, those are actually one of the most dangerous enemis for hardcore, the unholy bolts deal quite some damage and the bolts are hard to spot. But luckily they don't spawn in groups.

Zon jabbed the way through the jungle, dang great, took a bit of damage, throwing the same great rare pilums i found a long time ago at the flayer shamans, their fire breath deals a sick amount of damage ... even with 15% fire rest they still deal 100 damage solid... too dangerous to tank.

Gambling galore, travi slaughter


Way to travi went much faster than usual, 99% of the time i have to run through kurast sewers to find that dang heart, this was one of the 1% of the times i found it within 2 minutes.... lucky. Started on travi members, it goes very well, they die fast, i take little damage. Gained 3 levels for now, from level 24, you start getting decent experience, perhaps 7-10% exp bar each run.

Gambled a few more circlets, and got quite lucky, 24-55 fire dmg, 2 mdr, that is a great one for jabzon... many quick hits. Even if some members have fire res, it did increase damage quite a bit. Also found the centurion, which i tried for a bit, but the extra physical damage from the jewels in the breast plate, actually increases damage quite a bit, so it was not worth switching. Merc used it for a while, until i found a rare breast plate with some damn decent stats, lvl 14, 10% cold+fire res, 1 dr, 90 defense, 50% plr, 17% fhr. So she is using that. And also, got very lucky on a circlet drop! 53 ar, 42%ed, 72ar, 3 dr, 52 defense, dim vision charges. This goes to my merc, and it is a big upgrade. Actually i am going to test it on the zon .. didn't think of that ,may outperform the fire damage one.

So the going right now is great, finally feels like i got a foothold in the ladder season!! Also, members drop a lot of runes and gems ... so for anyone looking for runes, travi is the way to go. I got ort, ral, tal, all the lower runes ... really want to make a zephyr for the a1 merc.... but very hard to find a relevent bow! I could go act1 and find a 2os hunter's bow, but it feels kind of wasted, should be using a long battle bow... just a shame it is os hard to find. Even if the 1-50 lightning dmg is the big draw on it, just feels ab it wasted. But i may decide on it. THe other states are great too, and it's a cheap runeword. So i should od that either way. 25% frw means she moves faster, and fires more often. She does die fairly often from the hydras, kiting n guiding is time wasting so i try not to bother with that. Though she does help with damage, the time wasted is not worth it. 26-63 normal damage on her, with a savage +max shopped war bow, and then 58-120 damage with the fire circlet! I think that's pretty good for ranged support damage!

One other overlooked positive factor from the act1 merc vs act2, is that she does not have to chase the enemies. I.e., if there are ledges and such, she tends to start shooting right away, whereas the act 2 merc runs around and around, pathfinding, which wastes time, and for hardcore, takes the bodyguard away from you. The a1 merc will stick around, and if you should need it, you can run in her direction and let the monsters engage her instead, while you keep running to reposition for a counterattack. Act 2 merc deals more damage, but gets swamped all the time, this also means he has a bigger risk of dying, then you have to kite, which also wastes time. In hardcore, these are factors one has to weigh up.

If i should find a real good bow, that would be so cool to test on the a1 merc.............. skystrike for instance.... would be insane.

Gonna do 50-100 runs in travi for both ama and barb, so that will be the deal the next days at least. Great going! Those circlets and gambling them is real fun. They can get some pretty damn decent stats. Only thing i've been really unlucky with is belts ^^ Must have gambled like 50 belts and heavy belts, just rock bottom every time, even the rare ones.............. maybe i should craft one.. but have no perfect gems.... just have to keep trying i guess.
