played through on sc (which boo i know)

have a 91 h donk atm and have done a ton of lk runs and found a couple runes here and there.

my question is would i be better off doing lk runs to get runes or tz runs. leaning twords tz since it will also give me items

not sure if anyone has ran the drop numbers

Rune drops are about how many monsters do you kill in a given time frame.

There are some monsters, such as ghosts, that have a naturally higher drop chance for runes than All other monster types. But in general, any given monster has the same chance to drop a rune as another. What alters is up to what rune can that particular monster drop. Such as is it high enough mLVL to drop Zod or only high enough mLVL to drop up to Vex.

Then player count affects rune drops in a round about way by increasing the chance a given monster drops an item.


But the tl:dr version is if you want more runes, kill more monsters in a given time frame.

Making cows basically the best place to find runes. Because it has a large monster density

There are some minor nuances here and there. But if moving to TZs lowers your kill speed, you are best not running TZs if your goal is runes.

And MF doesn’t affect rune drops other than, if you have so much MF, your kill speed is negatively affected, making you get less runes because you kill less monsters in a given time frame

Statistically, Lk> Trav> cows > everything else. Of course, if run times are optimized for char/setup. Also also, RNG

From what I've read, tz are nice for exp, expanded drop range in areas for higher quality items, and higher runes, but not increase rune drop chance.

So LK is still objectively the fastest place. But, if you need either gear, want levels, etc...do what feels right.

I've done the Arcane thing before to hunt ghosts, and drops were good, but runs were slow, and ghost have to float over the path, which is like watching paint dry or water boil

Last edit: if you have hdonk and enigma, just run chaos and do seal pop trick.

I think this might be the very best way to find runes:

Make a sorc, put it on player count 1, flip your LK maps until you get two campfires right next to the wp, put it on p7 or p8, USE TELEKINESIS, pop all poppables on your super chest path (hollow log, skeleton, chest, stash, baskets, etc), and make harmony bow for vigor aura so you can run through Kurast Docks faster after you make each ng. I gotta bust a brag here too because two days ago I found Gul, Lo, Sur in ~30 mins using this exact same technique.


But TKamp is kinda right too. If you already have that h donk, chaos runs are OP. Prolly can’t seal pop tho if you’re still looking for jah ber.

Have done a couple hc walks and still have some chars going. Just doing sc for casual passing time. Will make a hc walk here soon.

You want to get a somewhat circular map, so you can end back at ep, and go to A4. Saves seconds which means hours in the long run.

Interesting comments on poppables. Most would say no poppables, or 6-8max. Some of those chests are adding seconds. In your 30mins, that is crazy RNG, congrats.

For example, my current map is somewhat circular, and I can run super chests only in ~25 Seconds, if no charms or runes pop, including load times. If I add some convenient corpses, logs, and occasional quick top chest, it's more like ~35 seconds avg, but I've got 8 poppables. If I hit ALL my poppables along the way, this is a 45-50s run, greatly extending my time. Statistically, that's not good, since you hunt LK p7 for the 14 unique sur patterns from super chests.

The poppables can drop ber, a d I've had that happen once a long time ago, but I think it's rare.i suggest finding the happy medium on poppables, with a run time no longer than 30s if you can manage it.
