It is. Griffon is part of TC 87, but has a Qlvl 84. Since Monster lvl >= Qlvl and the Pit being a Mlvl 85 area, this item can drop there, even from a normal Fallen

On pit in my opinion u can find the most rare items.
You can find all sets & uniques (besides anni, torch obv
) there, but some only from champions/ unique monsters. E.G. Tyrials, CoA, Mang Song
Funny thing about the drop was:
I was on the phone with my girlfriend for quite some time and started going through my stash, sorting out crap, rearanging sections... When the call ended I almost left the game, but then thought: why not give the pits a try?
You can see me turning on the OBS. Good thing I went there ;-)
