Messed up the math above, his should* be a 385, not 384. I set the initial base at 165, did the math, then remembered the +1, changed the base, didn't correct the rest of the equation

166×1.5+132=385

Here's an old thread for those curious about the unique item defense mechanics. And for reference, if the max base +1 thing didn't exist you couldn't get a 399 def CoA. It'd be 398 max if the game rounded fractions up, but the mechanic exists and voila

This is old infos. And gaze is not the only unique that is concerned by this iirc.

It took me literally 5 sec to find another one which has not 166 base def obviously

Doesn't seem like old info to me. Go take a look at his barb walkthrough, specifically the HoZ. 507 defense. Gilded shield is 144-168. 507÷3=169. There's that +1 mechanic again.

It's kinda weird indeed, but I don't see why would he fake that drop ? Coa isn't even great.

It's a rare item that people make a big deal about, like Tyrael's Might. I guess it's fairly good for some builds, but certainly not this one.

Might have been attention, might have been poor planning for gear optimising. He got pages of :drool: after the shot. He's using Pride for a zealer merc. I could go either direction. I definitely don't see that as a legit item though, unless there are known issues with item generation in BugY

BugY does not touch anything on drops that's for sure lol

Interesting. The Arreat Summit has CoA listed as 349-399 defense, which is only possible with the max+1 mechanic. AS also lists the max+1 deal, as does the Amazon Basin.

I'm not gonna argue over whether every one of those shots is legit. But neither one matches up with described game functionality.
