Would it be worth it to reroll a LK map until you find a "stable" weapon rack dropping threshers?
Like that video on youtube linked in my Assassin thread. He repeatedly finds the same base from the rack by taking the same path.
It might take some effort to roll that map and some time spent finding a rack with the desired base, but once you find it... you can farm it somewhat consistently.

I think it's the direction you approach it from and route you take, not sure if game length affects it. It might also be the order you open chests/racks in.
here's an example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE1MNIX8E_Ihere are some questions that are typically asked on d2 sites:
9. Racks can produce the same base item repeatedly if one goes directly to them from the teleport station using the same path.
9a) Racks have a random number generator that has two seeds: a number that is chosen when the map seed is established and another seed that is based on time.
9) This is definitely true in 1.07 strongly, and less true in 1.10-1.12. The terminology is "stable" for a rack which consistently drops the same item type. In 1.07, the order of visiting various racks affected their item drops and I assume it is the same in later versions. That is, suppose you have 3 LK racks A, B and C. It may be that if you visit them in order, A drops Balrog Skins stably, B drops Bone Knives stably, and C drops Russet Armors stably, but if you visit them in order B, C, A they are stable or unstable with other item types dropping.
or just visit every weapon rack in your current map for reps. Tower cellars, ruined temple, halls of pain, etc. Lots of places have wep racks you could go for
maybe one will pop a thresher or GT
