Is stealth necessary? Feel that in norm you could get away with pure MF stuff. Only NM onwards the resists would be more important.

Then again norm uniques ain't the most useful.

Stealth isn’t really necessary, no. But I like the frw/fcr and haven’t really been too worried about mf in norm. I think I’ve ran around 50ish the whole time. But I have been thinking that before NM, I need to optimize my gear to get resistances and mf in the most efficient places. It would be nice if the pelt I found rolls 3os. A magic find armor would be nice as well, so I guess I need to get my res from boots and jewelry. I use the 10 ias on gloves so not too keen on letting those go until I get a new weapon. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what I find in a5 norm and early NM and go from there, no point in doing much planning when I have no idea what I may or may not find.

Obedience is not an option for me, I believe on legacy it’s still a ladder only runeword, meaning I won’t be able to create it on vanilla legacy. D2r has made a bunch of things a lot less painful for sure, but legacy is where my heart is! Lem would be awesome. I figured I’d be lucky just to get a Smoke armor.

Anywho, hope I can build up my res before NM for sure, I was starting to feel my lack of res already in norm chaos 😬

Ah didn't realise legacy extended to the runewords too. Means no insight either. That's rough. Another easy high damage weapon.

What's your plan for your end game weap? Hope for cruel elites?

No specific plan! Just kind of hoping that through Wu Wei, Laozi will be able to find his right path 🤓

But yeah, if I can’t get lucky with some sort of decent weapon drop, I’ll probably have to strike the Full Clear condition and continue on focusing on mostly fire claws damage. It’s not what I want, but it’s a possibility. The good news is, I’m not too picky about the exact weapon, so I’ll be casting a wide net. Hope I can find something cool!

Personally am attempting an Avenger at the moment. Thought it should be fairly safe with treachery + rhyme. No immunity issues too. Though mana would be an annoyance since I think insight is not enough to sustain.

Thanks! Cruel can be shopped yes, might end up going for one. But the area I’m most worried about is more like act 1-2 Hell, and I’m not sure if I can shop for them there or not. I’d have to check how early they can be shopped. Those early acts of hell I really doubt I’ll have a decent weapon. So I don’t know! Trusting in Wu Wei!!!

Barbs have a great kit for this type of run. Easy life and resistances, incredible utility in their various war cries, and big ed/ar from all of their main skills. But they do come with one obvious caveat: extreme weapon dependency. If you play with ladder rune words enabled on legacy, or if you just play on d2r in general, it would be much easier because there would be a lot more powerful+easy to make runewords available.

As far as avenger goes, I can’t really say as I’ve never played one. I’ve considered it, but always worried about their lack of crowd control, especially since their attack is interruptible. Bypassing all immunities is a big draw though. Would definitely be interesting to read an avenger single pass or even just a regular avenger run. I don’t know why, but I just can’t get interested in d2r runs though haha. I only like legacy wts personally 😋 wish you the best of luck with whatever you choose!

Ah, Switch is awesome. Just got a Switch 2 from my wife at Christmas. Definitely loving it Haven't tried D2R there though. I don't really like D2 on console because of inventory management. But the touch screen on Switch would help a lot with that I imagine. Interested to hear what you choose to play!

After a bit of thinking and progressing in A5, I've decided that I want to get Fire Claws to 2k fire damage before maxing Werebear. If I don't hit at least this amount of fire damage, I don't think I'll be able to reliably kill tougher physical immunes in Hell. This means I'll need to max one fire claws synergy and add 10 into another. So my new skill layout will look something like this:

20 Fire claws
20 HoW
20 Firestorm
10 Molten Boulder
1-5 Lycanthropy
1-5 Shockwave
The rest to Werebear (at least 10+, depending on how much I add to lycan/shockwave and which level I reach)

It would be nice to only have to add 1 to Lycan/Shockwave. I want to have around 4 second stun on Shockwave in Hell, and that takes level 5 Shockwave after items. So I'll likely need 3-5 to Shockwave. How much Lycan I'll need really just comes down to the gear I find, so we'll see! Hopefully will be able to beat Norm and update by the end of the weekend.
