I want to make an insight for my merc since it's cheap but is using my larzuk socket quest the only way to get 4 sockets from normal cow drops?

You can use in the cube the ral+amn+ P amethyst recipe to try socketing a polearm found at the moomoofarm (gives random sockets so not sure you will get 4 sockets) but the ral+amn+P amethyst will disappear, so not sure it is worth it so early. But in NM you will have your 4os polearm for sure, latest at Countess, just kill as many monsters as you can on your way and you will find it sooner or later
