Looking good so far! A couple tips I can offer:

Try the runeword "Stealth" in a two socket armour (breast plate best style on barb IMO, you can shop them from Fara in Act 2). Can get the runes super easy from Countess and it offers some great early game bonuses.

Secondly, once you get to slightly higher levels you might consider Frenzy. No defense bonus on attack but damage will be much better and it's still uninterruptable. Going without a shield may feel scary at first but as long as you've got hard hitting weapons and some life leech you'll tank like a boss!

Regarding dealing with physical immunes later in the game, one point in Berserk can be useful, just be sure to accompany it with Howl spam as 0 defense + no shield = potential ouch. Ideally you'll want an Act 2 Might merc (offensive from NM difficulty) with Reaper's Toll. Before that, if you're using ladder rune words, Lawbringer on an Act 5 mercenary also works great, especially on boss runs like Meph, which is the primary stop for item upgrades for many WTs.

Good luck, will be following, barb for life <3

Thanks for the advice. Stealth looks like armor for a caster but several people have mentioned it so I made it in a breast plate. I'm now faster, with better max poison resist, and my FHR is 49%. In another thread of mine you suggested using dual fleshripper's in a dagger fury barb. That idea is what made me start this guy. I've never used it but I like the idea of a fleshripper and two of them on a barb sounds awesome. The odds of that happening in this game are slim to none but I can dream!

After making a stealth I did 5 meph runs. Each run took about 10 minutes so I didn't want to do too many. I found a few of the usual crappy set pieces like isenharts and milebragas shield because it is mandatory that you find them in any game. But I also found a new ring and a killer amulet.

Isenharts on meph run of course.

I love this amulet. If I was an assassin it would be killer.

Immune to physical and stone skin on normal?! This doesn't seem fair.

New belt. Better than my old belt but only 8 slots. Ohh well. The rules say I have to use it.

My resists are looking good so I am nice and safe.

Thats it for Meph runs. Onto act 4.

This fight took 4 minutes. Neither me or my merc took any damage and all I took was two mana pots. But it did take 4 minutes.

I was wrong. It only took 25 minutes to get to Diablo. The only dangerous part were those fire breathing jerks on the right. They could surround me and actually do some damage. Everyone else is fairly harmless.

He just attacked me and never my merc. I stood there and kept swinging, completely ignoring his fire and lightning attacks. It took at least five minutes and two trips back to town for more potions but it was easy.

I was praying for some new mega-weapon. No such luck. Another Milebragas shield (that's two now), a nice circlet (for an amazon), and decent ring.

Both my merc and I really need a new weapon but how do I get a new weapon when a diablo run takes 30 minutes?!!??! I'd happily respec into frenzy but then I'd need two new weapons.

I'm not entirely sure where to go from here. Do a few more runs and then onto act 5 and hope to get lucky?

I decided to do some Diablo runs on P1. I wanted to do the entire thing on P8 but it just took too long. On P1 I was a machine. I put on three pieces of Sigon's set which gave me more attack rating (who cares), defense (who cares), 50% magic find and 10% life leach for a total of 14% life leech. Conviction+BO+Shield+14% life leach + high resists=nearly invincible.

After 14 runs I got new gloves, a new helm, a new belt to match my boots, and my merc got a new weapon.

I'm thinking the Halbred for my merc. It does less damage but it is faster and a lot of the poleaxe's damage is poison.

My first barb skill amulet but my rare is nicer.

I was hoping my merc could use this but the extra 10% damage doesn't do much.

All of my gear at this point. I think I will farm diablo for a few more runs tomorrow and then I'll start to slug it out in act 5 on p8. I do have 1.2 million to gamble with if that would help.
