So it went from 20k to several million.
I said his source wasn't great, nothing about the theory.
Sounds a bit ridiculous to be honest, but I've never even heard of that before and haven't dabbled much in LK runs so I honestly have no idea.

It cannot be 20k runs since there are ~66k distinct patterns. So at least that many runs would have had to occur to notice the distinct patterns. Many millions of runs would have had to occur to obtain this data.

has anyone actually gone through the game code (and shown it on forums) to provide any confidence in the patterns? if that's not possible, why not set up some single player bots to mine LK data nonstop?

/e: someone has to know someone behind the scenes at blizzard who worked on the game and can confirm any of this

My point exactly. The original post that I quoted was not a good source.

I read the thread on incgamers. I feel confident in the information provided in that SP forum, interesting read. Particularly the difference in available patterns based on /playersX settings.

Read what I posted again.

Some folks over at diablo.incgamers did something like 20k+ runs and compiled their findings. Someone might have gone through the game code as well. Quoting Seb from another thread on the number of different patterns for super chests:

I didn't say just 20k. Folks (plural) compiled their findings. Obviously 20k alone wouldn't work since there are 65k patterns.

It would've made sense if you said 20k each. It didn't help that you mentioned "might have gone through the game code" as well. Anyway, interesting information.

Will you stop spamming this thread by questioning 10 year old facts? There are several LK threads on this forum aswell. Most of them are out of date though. But the concept is still the same.

Pickady implied several people did 20k+ runs and compiled their findings. What's so hard to understand?
