d2 is not procedurally generated, you can encounter the exact same map, they are hard coded

Okay, but that has nothing to do with the topic of this post. We can't get a ber rune drop every game by getting the same seed, and we can't reset the game over and over again looking for the right seed. This in no ways is applicable to online because this relies on overriding the seed every game.

never said any of those things. this is strictly for SP and maybe if you happen to come across online you can try the movement

Why is this conversation so hard? No where did I indicate it was reliable to get that seed, but it is possible. Blindly saying it won't ever happen is nonsense. I don't understand the confusion. Also, last I knew in D2r they removed RD so you can infinitely reset your game and search for it. Unless that changed you can hunt for it. The probability of getting it is unknown to me.

the answer is essentially zero. The seed value is a 9 digit number, The chance that your seed value is a specific 9 digit number is very low. Even if you can update your seed hundreds of times per minute, the chance it will ever be the needed 9 digit number is close enough to zero that it would be wasted effort to find a way to get current seed value.

It's also quite possible that it's not possible to know the current seed value because it's most likely something that only exists in the server side of the connection. But even if it does exist somewhere in memory, the best that could be done is to write a program that will monitor that memory value and alert you if you hit the right one. It would also require that you do nothing else after you hit that seed value before you start doing exactly what is done in the linked video.

In the case of the lotto, the way to do it is to go to a store and buy a ticket. The chance of winning is very low, but the process is easy to follow and well laid out.

We know exactly how to play the lotto for a chance of winning. IN the case of finding a specific seed value in the online version of this game, it's unclear if that's even possible. You keep saying it's possible, but you have yet to explain how a person would know if they had the right seed value.

It seems like you are just guessing that it's possible and you don't actually know what you are talking about.

I dont think you would be able to confirm the exact number online as im pretty sure the tool to show the seed doesnt work there. Visual confirmation is the best you can get. A math function is what is used to determine everything and though the numbers are probably astronomical, it doesnt matter, the only question is can the same numbers be generated more than once. Not how likely it is. I don't need to have worked on the blizzard dev team to know that. At this point I think you are trolling me and set on actually confirming the exact number to be sure it is the same. I don't give a fuck man, jesus. Go play with a random number generator and set it one to a trillion. If you click it enough times you will get one that repeats. Of course it is more complicated than that, it's just a simplified way of thinking about it. I'm not interested in confirming the exact seed number or whether that is even possible to confirm the number. There is 1:400 trillion chance you were born but here you are. And if you are a fan of the infinite universe theory, then there's a chance there's another version of you, exact in every way down to every atom. Will you ever be able to prove it? Probably not, but that doesn't mean its not possible. Just unlikely.

What do you mean by visual confirmation?

There is no way to visually confirm the seed value that random has at any moment. The only way to do this is through something like a tool to view the game's running memory.

We are talking about how random numbers are generated in the C programming language. The only way to get insight into what's happening is a third party tool, there is no way to know simply by playing the game.
