you should have reached power button and pressed for 3-5 seconds
sorry for your loss, but every melee char at players8 hell is no different than yours. actually elemental damage dealing melee chars (like your phoenix sin or a tesladin or a fire claws bear ... ) have decent damage advantage over classical physical damage dealers, though they may have some other disavantages. let me give an example

i'm also playing a walkthrough (players7 frenzy//itemfind barbarian on softcore with plugy). i'm currently at hell act1 quest 1 with decent item grind from nm (level 75, items like butcher + fleshrender, raven, smoke mp, lore barb helm, half of the inventory is fine//sharp charms). i have a might merc with bo + shout and guess what: the second zombie boss at blood moor killed my merc twice. if that merc cannot tank, then yours has no chance. you need level but there is no rule that you have to level up only on pit.

i tried to level on nm cs, baal, cows, hell pits... everywhere

i suppose the melee playstyle isn't for me

the sora is gonna be just as hard i think. nova and orb damage caps before you leave normal.
i'm just gaining small range and static. (which isn't that useful considering i had 50%++ cb on my sin, lol)
