Really interesting, since I mostly play pits at the moment, I was wondering about the good layouts.

I found one once with a kind of "plateau", quite large space at the entrance with 5-6 elites packs directly, then straight to Pits 2 without much detours.

I think it didn't have devilkins "pockets" that rarely include elites and can take a bit of time to clear the kins that run away.

What are your criteria for a good Pits?

My criteria for the best pits maps would be:
Starting a1 as this version: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=89361061&f=161&p=655373651
WP is to Black Marsh
TP up 2-5 teleports to Pits entrance
D2 layout from the below starting tiles (Order of potential best layouts are D2 >>> D1 > A2 >> C2 >>> B2 > B1 >>> A1 < C1)

And then maps that have orentiations like the below examples:

So those are layouts that I think are good. They should only have 4 tiles. They should have a rhythm to them and for me the T layouts and the more linear layouts are the best. You can see the examples I give all have my preferred D2 >>> D1 > A2 entrance tiles for maps. The reason I like these entrance tiles is they are tied to the exit tiles to level 2 and the exit tiles in the examples above are in my opinion the best.

Here are some exit tiles associated to the maps that have entrance tiles I do not like:

These Exit tiles are in my opinion the absolute worst. They are like a maze and it takes a lot of time to check all the potential spawn locations. I want my entrance and exit tiles to be easy, and then find middle tiles that connect to make some sort of rhythm in my runs.

So, I ended up testing a bunch of maps and honestly after maybe 20-30+ hours of rolling maps and testing layouts I just can't find a map that competes with the version I was running most recently. Nothing compares to the comfort, speed, and density. Probably the best pits map I will ever roll.

A recent example for comparison is:

This map had an average of 8.26 packs/run after 60 runs. With level 2 having an average of 3.15 packs/run... the reason I loved the map above was it had a level 2 with an average of over 3 packs per run! Level 1 was all over the place though.
