I don't hate Stormshield - but it's bad on a PvM Hammerdin.

This isn't a generalisation, it is an objective fact:

1. Spirit has high FCR which gets you to the 125 FCR breakpoint easily. With a Stormshield, you're forced into either suboptimal gear choices for other slots, or exceptionally high end 2/20 ammys etc.

2. Hammerdin's are extremely tanky by nature - they can handle 99.9% of game content easily. Perhaps Hell Lords are in that top 0.1% and are too nasty to tank - but if that's the case, the logical thing to do is to change to a different farming zone rather than gimp your whole character for this one niche case.

3. The Icy Cellar is a fairly mediocre place to PvM. It's area level 83 which restricts the items that can drop and it has a smaller number of boss packs vs. other areas (pits/tunnels etc.) - The only saving grace is the superchest at the end which I believe can drop TC87 uniques (about 1/200ish chance) - but if he is superchest farming, he could just teleport right past the Hell Lords.
