the physical damage of grief+400 or forty +300% doesn't disapear
you just don't get elemental dmg off it
for example if you have a 500dmg weapon
+300% fire dmg from vengeance gives you +1500 fire dmg
+300% physical dmg from forty gives you +1500 physical dmg (just like for other attacks)
E: basically the +%elem dmg of vengeance behaves just like the usual ed% (enhanced damage %), except the dmg you gain is elemental. And except if doesn't work with grief's +dmg.
Since you're going to use a high dmg weapon, it's ok to have stuff like might aura and forty etc. You'll get physical dmg off it. But you'll get 0 elemental dmg.
ed% on a vengeance pala is kinda like grief on a dream pala - it has no synergy with the idea of the character (which is to deal elemental dmg), but it's still good
