I made a ranger a few months ago and came to a stand still in early NM. Used Holy fire through norm no problem, Ended up with with a 3os bow 2 shaels 1 nef. Swapped to holy shock in NM but my progress definitely slowed. Without finding any good bows or better items for resists walking became very dangerous (This was even after many MF runs) Good luck to you....

i may have to take that rule out if i really cant do it becuase id rather not just scrap the character haha

Yea, it's better to take that rule off because it will be very damn rare to find the weapon that will carry you towards your ultimate goal! Other than that, it's good that rals are a bit imba in the beginning of the game! Hope to see this char beat norm baal!
