It takes weeks/months to master the aiming skills for FO. Blizzard is simply one shot in the random-- Can't really miss.
So the basic FO damage is the orb going through things

Not the shards that will explode inside the monster

A new guy would miss that 9/10 times.
So yes, for newbie MFers, I recomment blizzy o.o

When I played my blizzard sorc, far too many times I would cast it and only 1 or 0 shards would hit the monster. Its kind of a waste to cast a spell on a monster and have it do little to no damage. Even with a poorly aimed FO, you will do decent damage to that monster each and every time. I honestly feel that during the course of building the FO character, actually playing through all the acts in all the dificulties, the skill to aim the FO will be acquired.
The problem I have is that newbies tend to freak out when coming across a monster that they cannot kill. Due to the mass synergy requirement of blizzard, it does not leave itself to have a secondary skill available. With FO, you can easily pick a secondary skill to have when you come across monsters that you normally would not be able to kill with a FO.
